There are moments in life when a single realization shifts everything. A moment when you go from feeling stuck to seeing a world of possibility open before you. That’s exactly what happened to me when I recognized the profound difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. And the best part? That shift can happen in an instant, with just one small but mighty word: yet.
The Simple Shift That Changes Everything
Let’s do a little experiment together. Grab a journal and something to write with. Now, think of something you believe you’re not good at—something you’ve told yourself over and over again. Maybe you’re not good at speaking up, negotiating a salary, or trusting yourself. Whatever it is, jot it down.
“I’m not good at trusting myself… yet.”
“I’m not good at negotiating a high salary… yet.”
Take a moment to feel into that shift. Notice how yet takes a closed door and cracks it open. What was once a full stop has now become an invitation—an entryway into possibility. Just by changing your words, you’ve opened yourself to growth, expansion, and a new way of being.
Releasing Inherited Limitations
Mindset isn’t just personal—it’s generational. So many of us were raised with belief systems that don’t serve our highest potential. Maybe you grew up believing success had to come through struggle, that security required sacrifice, or that there was only one way to do life. I certainly did.
Being 100% Italian on both sides, my family carried a deep-rooted mindset of hard work and pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. That belief system shaped how I saw the world and what I thought was possible. But here’s the thing—what if there is another way?
